About Us

Welcome to The Veranda View

Hi there! We are so excited that you have discovered us! Maybe you were perusing YouTube videos or stumbled upon us through your Instagram reels. Either way, we both most likely have one thing in common, having an interest in gardening! That’s why we created The Veranda View. This project has been 2 years in the making. It actually started with my frustrations of teaching during a pandemic. I loved my job as an agriculture teacher, but I always knew I wanted to do more. My husband and I love serving our community, and what better way to serve the community than through a platform that can reach in and outside our town of Bradenton, Florida. The Veranda View is a place for gardeners in Florida to find simplified information that has been tested through trial and error. Between the two of us we have over 18 years of horticulture experience. We love to garden because it is a place to explore, learn, and have fun. There’s no better way than learning by doing! You can be 93 or 3 years old, and still find your place in a garden. It can help lower stress, decrease anxiety, and surprisingly burn some calories too! We hope you find some tips and tricks for your Florida Garden through our upcoming YouTube Series, our blog, or through our social media. We look forward to getting to know you and seeing your garden as well! Happy Trails!

In 2020 during quarantine, we decided to build multiple flower beds within our front yard. We absolutely loved our garden beds, and so did our 2 year old! We ended up selling our house in October of 2021, so we will be sharing our journey in installing all new gardens at our new property! (More of that to come later! )
Our 2 year old (now 3, where does the time go?!) enjoying her watering duties in the garden.
Our vegetable garden at our old house. We built four raised beds and grew squash, beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, peas, lettuce and peppers! As we begin to build our new garden beds, we will be sure to share with you the best varieties of seeds, how to manage your raised beds, deal with pests, and so much more!
My husband, John, and our daughter installing our new privacy hedge. The property where our new home is being built is on a busy street with lots of road noise. We installed Podocarpus, Star Jasmine, Azalea, Porterweed, and more! The new house will be quite the project, but we can’t wait to take you with us on this journey!
